From the Furnace Woods School Newsletter
A dynamic duo, consisting of Yorktown’s Pat Kibbe and Rachel Pastore, arrived at Furnace Woods School on Tuesday, April 13th; bringing with them an incredible message and an abundance of optimism, the guests were greeted with open arms. During their presentation of “Kids to Kids International”, an organization which Pat founded many years back, the two women explained their work which benefits children around the world. Pat, Rachel, and a team of benevolent workers encourage youngsters to write their own original picture books. When completed, the picture books are then sent to children in need as a part of a “Friendship Box”. Containing a variety of goodies, the boxes are received by eagerly awaiting youngsters around the globe. Children who have suffered natural disasters, or have been forced into a refugee lifestyle, are the recipients of these packages. What a wonderful gift! The presentation of “Kids to Kids International” was both uplifting as well as awe inspiring. Pat and Rachel passed along incredible stories to their wide-eyed and captive audiences. Moreover, they relayed a message, which resonated deep within students and staff alike: “You can do anything, as long as what you’re doing is good.” Pat Kibbe employs this ideology in entirety and is a role model in every sense of the word. Our FWS students are going to take her up on her offer and write picture books to be sent abroad. At this time, the destination is Haiti. All of us can make a difference if we try! Thank you for that message, Pat Kibbe.
